The MSA300R is a powerful cordless rescue chain saw, designed for emergency services and work during rescue operations. A battery-powered alternative to the now discontinued MS462C-MR petrol rescue chain saw, it uses the same cutting attachments and can cut through composite materials and glass. Three available operating modes enable optimum battery efficiency across applications.

The MSA300R has a full electrical power of 3.0kW, which is provided by the AP500S battery (sold separately). It allows for an adjustable chain speed of 3 different levels - 20m/s, 24m/s and 30m/s. When used at full power, it can cut through tough materials at speed. It is easy to start with no cold start procedure, for faster operation in rescue situations. As the tool is battery-powered, it has reduced maintenance requirements making it reliable over long periods. Plus, a robust and heat-resistant housing makes the chainsaw suitable for use in touch conditions thanks to its professional construction.

Comes fitted with a Rollomatic ES Rescue guide bar and a Rapid Duro Rescue saw chain which has carbide plated teeth, impact resistance and long-lasting sharpness. Suitable for cutting wood, roofing materials, aluminium siding, composite materials and glad. The drive links are humped, which means kickback is reduced too. A depth limiter allows for controlled plunge cutting, prevents over-cutting and improves safety during use. It includes a 3/8" P rim sprocket which converts the MSA300R from a .325 pitch to a 3/8" pitch.

The LED display allows for intuitive operation, giving the user notifications on chain brake position and power setting. Mounting point for the STIHL Smart Connector 2A on the power tool housing. Other features include integrated cooling air filters, captive nut on the sprocket cover and an adjustable oil pump. Like most AP System tools, the MSA300R is IPX4 rated meaning it can be used in all types of weather conditions.

Power Boost
Thanks to intelligent electronics, STIHL power tools and batteries communicate with each other. If the device and battery are equipped with the power boost function, the battery always provides the maximum possible power for the respective application. In order to ensure optimum battery life, the device temporarily adjusts the power if it is used too intensively.

Constant Power
With other brands of battery tools, the performance usually decreases during work as the battery discharges. This is not the case with STIHL cordless power tools with constant power. Thanks to the intelligent electronics, your STIHL power tool works with consistently high power.

Fleece Filter
The non-woven air filter filters sawdust, fine dust and dirt from the cooling air flow. This keeps the heat sinks of the power electronics and the engine parts clean in the long term. The removed non-woven air filter can be easily and effectively cleaned with STIHL Varioclean and then reused. Cleaning should be carried out regularly – monthly in the event of heavy use.

Operating Modes
This chainsaw offers you 3 different operating modes. In "Eco" mode, the chainsaw operates with reduced power for maximum battery runtime. "Felling" mode uses the highest possible torque at reduced chain speed, to help you saw as evenly and powerfully as possible. "Delimbing" mode gives you a very high chain speed for precise cuts. Use the activation button to start your chainsaw in your preferred mode.

Soft Grip Conrrol Handle
The control lever with potentiometer function allows you to control the speed of your battery-powered chain saw on an infinitely variable basis, and in this way easily control and adjust its performance as needed. On consumer chainsaws, the potentiometer function is integrated into the throttle lever.

Effective Performance Monitoring
The derating function offers you two advantages in your work: first, this function protects your chainsaw against possible overheating by reducing the current. Additionally, it notifies you by means of a reduction in power if you only have very little battery power remaining. In both cases, the function allows you to finish cuts that have already started without the engine switching off.

The large LED display provides feedback on the status of important chainsaw components.

Tool-Free Oil Tank
Thanks to the bayonet closure, you can open and close the tool-free fuel cap in just a few simple steps.

Variable-Displacement Oil Pump
The controlled-delivery oil pump reduces your chainsaw's oil consumption by up to 50%. To use it, simply select the E position. For very long cutting attachments or very dry wood, an additional oil volume can be set by the user.

Connectivity Ready
You can mount a Smart Connector 2A in the housing of the power tool at the dedicated position. Once installed, this connects to the control unit and transmits valuable power tool data to your smartphone, tablet or the STIHL connected Box that is within range. You can use the STIHL connected App and the STIHL connected Portal to view the STIHL connected gathered data and benefit from additional functions.

IPX4 Certified
The IPX protection classes define the moisture protection of electrical or electronic devices. The moisture protection test is defined in different stages. IPX4 certifies protection against splashwater from all sides. Battery-powered tools with this certification are therefore designed for daily use, even in rainy conditions.

The MSA300R must be used with the AP500S battery, the most powerful AP battery from STIHL, which features power laminate technology - meaning it has double the number of charging cycles of a typical STIHL AP system battery with cylindrical cells. Approximately 253 charging cycles per year (253 working days, excluding weekends and bank holidays in UK) means the battery will last close to 10 years without the typical capacity loss of the battery cells. Integrated Bluetooth interface for STIHL connected allows the battery to be managed like a power tool.
